Details

Projects are a great way to develop your vision and photography skills and particularly necessary when considering an exhibition, book or distinction. This new and exciting workshop is designed to help you understand and articulate your photographic ideas in ways that will improve your creativity.

Session 1

The first session starts by discussing project ideas with Mark and your fellow participants along with examples from Mark's own projects (via Zoom). You then have a week to come up with your own photographic project in the form of a brief or narrative based on the theme of this particular workshop and present it to Mark and the group in a second session.

Session 2

Return with your narrative or brief for further discussion on how it might be refined further.

Session 3

Armed with your project idea you will be set the task of creating 10 images that fit your brief or narrative before submitting them to Mark for critique and discussion by the group at a follow-up Zoom session 3 weeks later.  All images must be new and not created previously and in an effort to minimise your carbon footprint, your chosen location/s must be no further than a 10-mile radius from your home.

Session 4 (Optional)

An optional post-processing session may be booked if you would like a personal 2-hour Adobe Lightroom session with Mark to discuss ways to improve your images further and create a cohesive set of images to complete your project.

Testimonials

I just wanted to say thank you for a great workshop in Glencoe, despite the weather! You are an excellent workshop leader with a high degree of professionalism, a methodical approach to landscape photography and the ability to adapt your teaching to your clients and the weather.

~ Fiona M

Thank you so much for such an inspirational day yesterday and for all your patience! I love my prints, thank you! I felt as though I achieved what I had set out to do and learn the principles of printing and look forward to giving things a go myself.

~ Geoff K

Hi Mark, Just a note to thank you again for such a wonderful week in so many respects. I so enjoyed the locations and the photography. Lots to process and think about again and some new exciting things to try. Your tuition and attention to detail is much appreciated and I always feel inspired again to get out with my camera. See you before too long in Yorkshire.

~ Anne W

"Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn."

Benjamin Franklin

“Mark Banks is quite simply one of the best teachers of photography I have ever met. His secret is an apparently endless supply of patience, and an acute analytical approach to developing systematic problem-solving tactics in photography, which he makes effortless and fun to learn, whether in the field or in the editing suite. Mark’s artistry, empathy, kindness and charm mean he is always a joy to work with, or to be taught by.”
