Mark is a proud member of the Royal Photographic Society and runs practical photography workshops for them around the UK. These workshops are a great way of accelerating your photographic skills along with meeting up with like-minded RPS members with a passion for landscape photography. If you are a member of the RPS these workshops offer great value for money! You DO NOT need to be an RPS member to book onto this workshop.
This is a 2-day event starting with a photographic shoot on location followed by a group online event a week later using Zoom software.
Situated south-west of Bishop Auckland, Hamsterley Forest is a woodland photographer's dream location. With a good mix of deciduous and coniferous trees, there's plenty of photographic subjects on offer. Professional photographer, Mark Banks will be on hand throughout the day to offer help and advice as well as discussing the importance of choosing a range of compositions that deliver a cohesive feel. Mark will also explain his thought process when considering whether to shoot in colour or black and white.
In an online full-day session the week after, Mark will invite participants to send him a few of your favourite images from the shoot for him to demonstrate how to get the very best out of them using Lightroom Classic. This session will be recordable for you to replicate processing the rest of your images. All processed images will be returned to the participant.
Meet at Grove Car Park, Hamsterley Forest. Google Maps https://goo.gl/maps/b3a8qHhUsy8Z7GoKA
Full joining instructions will be sent prior to the start of the workshop

I just wanted to say thank you for a great workshop in Glencoe, despite the weather! You are an excellent workshop leader with a high degree of professionalism, a methodical approach to landscape photography and the ability to adapt your teaching to your clients and the weather.

Thank you so much for such an inspirational day yesterday and for all your patience! I love my prints, thank you! I felt as though I achieved what I had set out to do and learn the principles of printing and look forward to giving things a go myself.

Hi Mark, Just a note to thank you again for such a wonderful week in so many respects. I so enjoyed the locations and the photography. Lots to process and think about again and some new exciting things to try. Your tuition and attention to detail is much appreciated and I always feel inspired again to get out with my camera. See you before too long in Yorkshire.

"Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn."
“Mark Banks is quite simply one of the best teachers of photography I have ever met. His secret is an apparently endless supply of patience, and an acute analytical approach to developing systematic problem-solving tactics in photography, which he makes effortless and fun to learn, whether in the field or in the editing suite. Mark’s artistry, empathy, kindness and charm mean he is always a joy to work with, or to be taught by.”
