Lofoten

Lofoten is a group of islands off the north-western coast of Norway - many of which are joined by a network of tunnels and bridges allowing easy access to the majority of the peninsula. For a very long time, it has been on my bucket list of places to visit with my camera. In February 2020 I finally got the chance to do so and I wasn't disappointed.

Lofoten is a magical location at any time of the year but, for a landscape photographer, winter is by far the best time to visit for the most dynamic weather. It's not without its challenges however, furious winds and temperatures well below freezing make taking images there very interesting indeed.

Images marked with (ICM) refer to a photographic technique of moving the camera whilst taking the image - so-called Intentional Camera Movement to create a more painterly look.
