"Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn."

~ Benjamin Franklin

“Mark Banks is quite simply one of the best teachers of photography I have ever met. His secret is an apparently endless supply of patience, and an acute analytical approach to developing systematic problem-solving tactics in photography, which he makes effortless and fun to learn, whether in the field or in the editing suite. Mark’s artistry, empathy, kindness and charm mean he is always a joy to work with, or to be taught by.”

~ Joe Cornish

He is one of the best educators I have ever worked with, regardless of discipline…I will come back in a heartbeat, to take other workshops at the gallery that Mr Banks is conducting.”

~ Richard F, Massachusetts, USA

Foundation Course - Landscape Photography

Foundation Course - Landscape photography
(Joe Cornish Gallery)

9th September 2019

North Yorkshire is the perfect backdrop for creating beautiful landscape images - with the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and the Yorkshire Coast all within a short driving distance from our base in Northallerton. On the day your workshop leader will discuss the best location for shooting images after checking out the latest weather forecast.

This workshop is aimed at photographers of any level who wish to hone their landscape photography skills further from beginner to advanced. We will discuss the fundamentals of the art as well as more advanced techniques such as using graduated filters. We will also discuss how to improve compositional skills. Basic knowledge of how apertures, shutter speeds and ISO work is all that is needed.

On this workshop, you will be encouraged to think a little deeper than the obvious and also consider both colour and black and white image options to suit your way of thinking, the location and the mood that the weather presents on the day.
