The Lake District is a wonderful place for landscape photography and autumn is a particularly photogenic and colourful time to visit. This workshop will be based in Grasmere where we will photograph around the lakes of Grasmere & Rydal Water as well as travelling a little further into the Langdales and Coniston area, too. Big vistas, colourful woodland, quarry visits and lakeside views will all be on the menu!
This 5-day workshop will suit landscape photographers from beginner to advanced - with tuition provided by professional landscape photographer, Mark Banks throughout the workshop. Transport will be provided to all locations for the duration of the workshop.
During the evenings (or days of particularly inclement weather), I will be on hand to help process your images taken during the workshop using Adobe Lightroom Classic on my laptop and 27” monitor (you may choose to bring your own laptop if you wish). You are also encouraged to bring along prints or digital images to discuss composition, processing and advice about printing - although this is optional.
Accommodation, lunches and evening meals are not included in the price of this workshop. This is to allow you to choose the level of accommodation that suits your budget and requirements - and Grasmere has a plethora to choose from. However, the workshop will run from The Grand at Grasmere, which I can highly recommend. Full details about the hotel can be found here https://www.grandatgrasmere.co.uk/
The workshop will start at 10 am on Monday 31st October and finish at 5 pm on Friday 4th November 2022. I will be arriving on the evening of Sunday 30th October if you wish to join me for an evening meal.
Here is a list of recommended equipment you should bring…
You may also bring with you a laptop computer for processing images taken during the workshop with guidance from Mark and Steve.
A moderate level of fitness is required for this workshop - but all locations have been carefully selected for their stunning views, safety, convenience and ease of access.

I just wanted to say thank you for a great workshop in Glencoe, despite the weather! You are an excellent workshop leader with a high degree of professionalism, a methodical approach to landscape photography and the ability to adapt your teaching to your clients and the weather.

Thank you so much for such an inspirational day yesterday and for all your patience! I love my prints, thank you! I felt as though I achieved what I had set out to do and learn the principles of printing and look forward to giving things a go myself.

Hi Mark, Just a note to thank you again for such a wonderful week in so many respects. I so enjoyed the locations and the photography. Lots to process and think about again and some new exciting things to try. Your tuition and attention to detail is much appreciated and I always feel inspired again to get out with my camera. See you before too long in Yorkshire.

"Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn."
“Mark Banks is quite simply one of the best teachers of photography I have ever met. His secret is an apparently endless supply of patience, and an acute analytical approach to developing systematic problem-solving tactics in photography, which he makes effortless and fun to learn, whether in the field or in the editing suite. Mark’s artistry, empathy, kindness and charm mean he is always a joy to work with, or to be taught by.”
