Picture2Frames: A Yorkshire Dales Winter
Details
Capture the breathtaking beauty of the Yorkshire Dales in winter and transform your photography skills into stunning framed artworks. This immersive workshop is tailored for photography enthusiasts at all levels. Whether you're a beginner or an intermediate photographer, this holistic workshop will guide you through the entire process from concept to a final set of images that portray your vision of the Yorkshire Dales in Winter. Finally, you will choose three of your favourite images which we will print and mount to gallery standard in three different framing styles - all with expert guidance from me.
Based in two exquisite side-by-side cottages in Reeth, Swaledale, this 6-day (7-night) all-inclusive workshop is limited to just 4 participants and includes all meals provided by my wife, Gillian. All material such as a large selection of fine art papers and three frames are included in the price of this workshop - including a very large 50x40cm block board!
Printing masterclass
At selected points throughout the workshop, we will process some of the images you took using my 27" computer. I will discuss the techniques I use to glean the best out of the image to create mood, atmosphere and delicacy (where appropriate) using Lightroom Classic software. As part of this process, I'll demonstrate how to create beautiful fine-art giclee prints "first-time, every-time" sized to perfection to fit your three frames using my large A2 printer. During the process, I will explain the finer details of printing to gallery standard as well as the pitfalls to avoid when both printing and framing.
An holistic approach
This unique Picture2Frames workshop is perfect for those looking to develop their skills in creating projects - from conceptualisation through to completion.
Accommodation
This 6-day (7-night), all-inclusive workshop is based in the beautiful village of Reeth in the heart of Swaledale. Using two adjoining and beautifully appointed cottages, this will be our base for the week. Each participant will be assigned their own double bedroom with shared bathroom on a 2:1 ratio. No bedrooms are shared!
For an additional £600, non-photographic partners are welcome to attend on a shared room basis and will also include all meals (please note that non-photographic partners will be unable to attend the practical or processing/printing sessions). There are many lovey walks from Reeth for partners to enjoy. Full joining instructions will be sent near to the time of the workshop.
Key Locations
I've lived on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Dales all my life, so I know it intimately. During the workshop, I will drive you to many different locations within Swaledale, Wensleydale. Arkengarthdale and Ribblesdale to fullfill your brief. We will, of course, photograph at dawn on occassions (which isn't particularly early) and dusk for the best light.

"Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn."
“Mark Banks is quite simply one of the best teachers of photography I have ever met. His secret is an apparently endless supply of patience, and an acute analytical approach to developing systematic problem-solving tactics in photography, which he makes effortless and fun to learn, whether in the field or in the editing suite. Mark’s artistry, empathy, kindness and charm mean he is always a joy to work with, or to be taught by.”
