Quote...

“Mark Banks is quite simply one of the best teachers of photography I have ever met. His secret is an apparently endless supply of patience, and an acute analytical approach to developing systematic problem-solving tactics in photography, which he makes effortless and fun to learn, whether in the field or in the editing suite. Mark’s artistry, empathy, kindness and charm mean he is always a joy to work with, or to be taught by.”

~ Joe Cornish

Testimonials

He is one of the best educators I have ever worked with, regardless of discipline…I will come back in a heartbeat, to take other workshops at the gallery that Mr Banks is conducting.”

~ Richard F, Massachusetts, USA

Northumberland Coast Landscape Photography Workshop with Mark Banks and Steve Gosling

Northumberland Coast
(Mark Banks & Steve Gosling
)

 28th April - 4th May 2019 - FULLY BOOKED

Join Steve Gosling and Mark Banks on this 5-day / 6-Night practical landscape photography workshop exploring the spectacular Northumberland Coast with its sweeping sands, castles and harbours. Over the 5 days, we will explore this wonderful part of Northumberland, with its dramatic coastline, sandy beaches and castles in stunning settings that offer the landscape photographer image making heaven. This workshop will take you to the coast around Dunstanburgh Castle, the sweeping sands of Embleton Bay, the spectacular and impressive Bamburgh Bay (with its theatrical castle sat on a rocky perch overlooking the sea), the working fishing port at Seahouses and to magical Holy Island with its castle, priory and harbour.

Itinerary

We will be based at the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel in the lovely village of Embleton. Although accommodation isn't provided as part of the workshop (we like to give people the flexibility to make their own arrangements according to their taste and budget) we do encourage participants to stay in the vicinity of our base. Officially, the workshop will start at 10 am on Monday 29th April, therefore we encourage participants to arrive the evening before for introductory drinks and to meet the other participants.
After an introductory talk at the start of the workshop, Mark and Steve will transport participants to the various locations outlined above. Mark and Steve will be on hand throughout each day offering advice and practical tuition. They will also offer an opportunity for you to take part in a Portfolio Review session where you can bring some of your images for constructive comment and critique. In addition, participants are encouraged to bring along their laptop computers for advice on post-production tips and techniques.
