"Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn."

~ Benjamin Franklin

Quote...

“Mark Banks is quite simply one of the best teachers of photography I have ever met. His secret is an apparently endless supply of patience, and an acute analytical approach to developing systematic problem-solving tactics in photography, which he makes effortless and fun to learn, whether in the field or in the editing suite. Mark’s artistry, empathy, kindness and charm mean he is always a joy to work with, or to be taught by.”

~ Joe Cornish

Testimonials

He is one of the best educators I have ever worked with, regardless of discipline…I will come back in a heartbeat, to take other workshops at the gallery that Mr Banks is conducting.”

~ Richard F, Massachusetts, USA

Northumberland workshop for the Royal Photographic Society

Northumberland Coast
(Royal Photographic Society Members)

27th April 2019

Mark is a proud member of the Royal Photographic Society and runs practical photography workshops for them around the UK. These workshops are a great way of accelerating your photographic skills along with meeting up with like-minded RPS members with a passion for landscape photography. If you are a member of the RPS these workshops offer great value for money!

Northumberland

This workshop will be set amongst arguably the most beautiful coastline in England with its sweeping bays and the spectacular castles of Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh (with its theatrical castle sat on a rocky perch overlooking the sea).

On this workshop, you will be encouraged to think a little deeper than the obvious and also consider both colour and black and white image options to suit your way of thinking, the location and the mood that the weather presents on the day. Mark will be on hand all day to help you with your ideas and technique in order to make successful images.

Itinerary

We will meet in the small fishing village of Craster - made famous for its delicious smoked kippers. Mark will start with an introductory talk before heading down to the harbour to discuss composition, techniques as well as answer any questions participants may have. After lunch, we will take a leisurely and flat 20-minute stroll along the coastline towards Dunstanburgh Castle where there will be plenty of opportunities to make coastal images of the area. In the late afternoon, we will head for the open sands alongside Bamburgh Castle to put into practice the techniques discussed during the day.

Details

Full joining instructions will be sent prior to this workshop but participants should meet at the Craster Quarry car-park (Google maps - https://goo.gl/maps/YEdGZ5mVGHP2) at 10:00 am

Please bring a packed lunch and drink. Warm clothing, comfortable footwear, umbrella and any medication necessary (wellington boots would be advisable for the beach). The workshop will aim to finish just after sunset (if there is one).
